Autumn in the air

I love this time of year. Here are some of my favorite things.
The smells of cinnamon and spices.
General Conference. I loved President Monson's talk during the Sunday
morning session. The choir sang my favorite song -
"I Know that My Redeemer Lives."
Mmmm. Pumpkin Pie. Mmm.

The changing of the leaves.

My Nancy Drew game that comes out each October.

Black cats.

The first hint of snow (from this morning).

But there are two things I'm definitely NOT looking forward to...
~
SNOW! I'm not ready for this!

~
CHRISTMAS!! AHHH!!

Are you ready???
Have you started your shopping?

I have started Christmas shopping. In fact I am 1/2 done. We don't do a lot so it is easy to finish up quick.

Love the snow on the mountains. I wish I had snow on my mountain. Maybe soon.

I am going to light my pumpkin pie candle right now. Smells so good.

We are making this year's Christmas fairly simple and the kids know it. Right nwo I ahve a few items..I generally start in July and then finish by the end of October. Sicne we have the move the kids know that they are going to have a very small Christmas. We already know what the kids will be getting. We are jsut waiting because we don't want to have to mvoe the presents. Oh what a mess that could be!!!

I was just saying this morning that I need a cinnamon candle! LOL!

I am SO not ready for Christmas. I don't even know what I want to get anyone...Mechelle is always so prepared.

I am really scaling down this year for Christmas. It's weird because I had already told my girls that we are simplifying Christmas BEFORE hubby lost his job. I told them that everything that they are getting this year will be homemade. Which sounds like simplying for THEM but not for ME because everything that I will be making for them takes TONS more time than buying something. And I want to blog about one of the things that I am making SO BAD! But then my girls will know what they will be getting for Christmas...lol

Sometimes I read your posts and just feel like we are kindred spirits. I love the same things you do and feel so similar to the things that matter to you. I Know that My Redeemer Lives is my favorite song also. And now that I think about it, there's a post I can do about that! I had an experience with that song that was really the first time that I felt the spirit and knew that I had a testimony of the church.

You are awesome!! If we end up moving to Utah, can we do lunch?!?

I too love this time of year--mostly because of all the yummy smells! But I'm with you--you are just beginning to enjoy the fruits of the fall season--when --bam--snow and Christmas! I love the Christmas season---just not my inability to be prepared for it.

I always get so sentimental in the fall. I loved all the rain we got yesterday. Nothing like hunkering down with your family and some hot soup!

I'm totally NOT even close to ready for Christmas. I have some ideas about what the kids are getting but haven't done anything about it yet.

Red, you crack me up!!! And, NOW I need your peanut butter/rice crispie treats recipe (HAHAHA I also put that on your daughters blog!!!)

Christmas huh... well, I tried to do it all early one year... and it backfired, I just kept buying... they got WAY too much and I spent way too much... so, the rule is, I CAN'T start early. I dont know how to stop.

I haven't started yet. I am just waiting for our sons return in a month. I know that it will be less this year. I only have Mattie to worry about really pleasing. LOL...

I look forward to just being together again. All of us. I am tearing up just typing it out. I loved conference. My heart is so full of joy and I feel so loved.

Love all your pictures Red. You are so great. Take care and happy week ahead.

I'm 1/2 done. Don't hate me. It's a problem being this organized.

I love your FALL loves.

Love the fall photos and things you've created. That mountain in the background is so familiar - I remember living in Draper on South Mountain and all that snow that comes in the winter - I'm not looking forward to it either! How is the temple coming along up their?
