Yellowstone when it's freaking cold!

Todd and I just came home from our jaunt up to Yellowstone. Although nothing good happens in January, in my opinion - it was still stunningly beautiful.

The back side of the Tetons.

In some areas, the roads were sheer ice.

We love the town of West Yellowstone. Yes, indeed!

Todd wants one of these.

Yeah - it was cold.

The view from our hotel window - where it was nice and warm.

We liked how the sun hit the mountain as it was setting.

What? How did Creature the Cat's picture get in here?
Oh well - doesn't he look cuddly and snuggly and warm?

My wfe did't mention that we actually got up to go for a long walk. Then we looked at the car temp at negative 16 deg F but tried to rough it anyway. We made it to the other side of the motel (about a half block) when our nostrils were frozen and our eyelashes curled, downward no doubt - dang annoying to drive home with inverted eyelashes. We ended our walk and I decided to get some gas line anti-freeze just in case our fuel decided to freeze and leave us stranded. It wouldn't have been pleasant to explain to Jodi that the fuel addative that would have saved us was only $3 while we sit at the side of the road freezing to death. I say that was a lifesaving step on my part that goes unnoticed. I really believe I saved our lives but she doesn't notice when I do something right. Just the wrong stuff from years earlier come back to haunt me from the catacombs of her memory J/K. Actually, she does a great job of remembering the good stuff too. Jodi is the BEST!

What beautiful photos!! Stunning! Sounds like you had a great weekend and I'm so happy you made it home without the fuel line freezing up...Todd gets kudos for looking out for you...=)

Your kitty looks so cute. We have two cats that love to lay on top of the heater vents....it is so funny to see their fur stand up when the heat comes on.

i will concede that the stupid cat looks cuddly but i do not think it looks snuggly. Also i'm not sure those are real words.

You guys have some great adventures, but I think Creature the Cat has the right idea! Snuggly is my favorite word, Brian.

To Desert Hen;

The cats looks so cute with his fur being sucked into the vent. I just have to change the filter more often Thanks to that darn cat.

You two are always doing fun stuff! Though, in all honesty, I'd be more jealous if you had gone south rather than north. I can't imagine how cold that was! DANG!

These pics are gorgeous! I've only ever been to Yellowstone in the summer.

Love love LOVE the photos JLW!! I'm SOOOOOO jealous you got to go up there. Not so much of the temps but I think it'd be fun regardless. And I even love the picture of Creature.. You are the crazy cat lady of your neighborhood.. you know that, right?

Yes, it is freezing in this part of the world! Stop by sometime when you're coming through. We can always offer a nice cup of hot cocoa to warm you up! And we probably have some antifreeze lying around too.

It seems a little more than I need to check the information, because I was thinking: Why does not my GLOG these things!

Kudos to Todd on his lifesaving efforts by buying Antifreeze! Ha. Wow, the weather reminded me of my days growing up in good ole Nebraska! Beautiful pictures. I'm glad you had a wonderful time!

Sadly I have never been to Yellowstone. It seem odd since i have lived relatively close at many points in my life ! It looks beautiful, I do believe that my husband would also want a big snow vehicle like that. It just looks fun.
