Yeah, that was the plan. It didn't turn out that way.
The lighting was bad. The photography was horrid. We were moody. It wasn't very fun.
Here are a few gems from the first batch...
I suggested going back to the park to take more pictures. "NO MOM!!! They look fine!"
I'm a mean mom - we went back.
I'm a mean mom - we went back.
The final results are not much better. The following 4 photos are the best of the nearly 60 that we took. I can't decide which one to use so I need your help!! Which of the following are the least frightening of the bunch?
(Do I look totally annoyed in this picture? Because I sooooo was....)
Photo 2.

I like 2 best of all!
I like 2 also!
Funny! I vote 2 also!!! AND, I thought it BEFORE I read the above votes!!! So, there ya go!
Definitely #2!
2 is great!!!
#1- is good.
#2- is very good.
#3- A big no- Todd is doing the 'fig leaf' and that just doesn't work.
#4- Will work if you crop the sides so you look less squished between furniture.
Glad to know I'm not the only one who tries to get the perfect family shot. At the same time- you've dashed my hopes because I always tell myself it will get easier when the kids get older. I guess not!
I must be a weirdo because I say #1. But I am on the laptop so maybe I can't see as well as others?
I agree with everyone and like #2 but I also like number 4 with the suggestion to crop. I recently pursued the family picture, however from my husband I got a big "No way" so then I attempted a shot of my 3 children,2 of them were way into it and the other would not even attempt it. Hopefully i have pics posting soon to show you what I mean.
I'm with Frumpy...#1.
We did Christmas pictures every year for years and years but the older the kids got, the harder it got to get a good picture of all of us...and harder to get all of us together! I finally just gave up on the idea altogether.
I like #3. I don't see the 'fig leaf' thing that Cynthia talked about. I must be missing something. m
My favorite is 2...but I think you're family is so beautiful it doesn't matter...I actually like the last one of the first batch...it made me smile!
#2 is my fave. And I like that last one of the first batch, too! People are probably more likely to laugh at and keep that one than the others! (Unfortunately, 'cuz that's just how people are.) It is really funny, though.
And I'm tagging you, if you want to do it!
I like 3 or 4 because of the Christmasy colors and you can see you cute faces!
I liked #1 just because you are up closer and I can see you better, but #2 would be my second choice! Funny you said that, we had pictures taken a couple of weeks ago and the 2 older girls were sooo moody it ruined the event. We snapped 2 pictures and that was that! Ha. You have a beautiful family!
I like #2...great photo. You have a beautiful family...=)
Trying to once again catch up on my blog reading.....I'm a bit behind.
Happy Day to you....=)
My first choice was #1, too. #2 is good too, but I really like #1.
First of all--I love the trial photos---way more fun than the posed ones! Second--I about spit water all over my keyboard over the fig leaf comment--just because of all the funny things Todd has done--it just fits. THird--I guess my opinion shouldn't count cuz I like #4 and I don't even think you look squished--but then--I live in a garage.....
That aside--you do have a beautiful family and I love your daughter's new hair do!
I like 4, though it may need some cropping for nice composition.
I like #1 the best, but they are all great!
I say 1, but then I like them all!
I definitely choose #1 because of the composition and the layout. Perfect!
And I really enjoy #3 because of the of the layout is done so lovingly.
Very nice photos!!
That's my opinion.
Thank you so much for coming by my blog and offering me support while I was sick! I really cannot thank you enough!
((Hugs))

Without looking at these closer, I like #1 best.
I like the one above where everyone is looking different directions and/or talking! Definitely that one!
