Holiday fun and household UN-fun

We've been busy people in our home lately! I'm short on time so this post will be short, sweet, and to the point! =)

Thursday we went to Connor's swim meet. He is really good!! Unfortunately they lost the meet because they were going against the best swim team in the state.

Friday my work had our Christmas party and I made some delicious tacos!! Thanks everyone for your awesome recipes. I couldn't have done it without you!

Yesterday our family went Christmas-ing down town. It is not very often that all of the kids are home together on the same weekend - so we took advantage of this rare opportunity!

We went to Clark Planetarium and saw "Santa and the Snowman 3D".

BTW - if you have little kids and want to see a darling Christmas movie - this is the one!!

Even though it's kind of a 'little kid' movie - my teenagers loved it. They actually admitted it!

Then we boarded TRAX.

And met Todd for dinner. YUMMY!!

We saved the best for last!

About three weeks ago, I opened the mail to find that I received tickets to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas concert. I was so excited that I actually screeched!! I enter the lottery every year - and this is the first time I received tickets.

Along the way, we braved the crowds and saw the beautiful lights on Temple Square.

And made it to the concert. To my delight - our seats were excellent (it's hard to tell in this picture). There are just times in life when the stars align and things just work out. Yesterday was that day. The concert was amazing!! The choir, the orchestra, the reading - all incredible! I love this choir and the feeling I get when I hear their angelic voices. There was an AMAZING organ solo of the song "Go Tell it on the Mountain" that literally brought the house down!

It was a super weekend that ended with my mom's birthday celebration tonight!! Love you mom - hope you had fun.
And now for the bad news.
I'm stealing Elora's computer right now because mine is broken. Why? Not a clue. The 'Geek Squad' thinks it might need a new mother board. Yeah. That's fun.
I haven't mentioned that my oven died a few weeks ago and my washing machine is on the brink.
Alas - life is good. I will take appliance issues over the more serious challenges that other people are facing during this Christmas season.
But - this means I won't be blogging much during the next few weeks. {Please hold your applause}. I'll still be around - and I'll lurk and comment when I can.
I sure hope everyone is having a wonderful Christmas season!

Glad the tacos went over well- did you end up making my recipe?

As for the concert tickets, I know exactly why you got them this year. Isn't it amazing how God steps in and lifts us when we have disappointments? You may have missed out on the concert you were planning to attend with the kids at Thanksgiving but you got to go to this one. You still had 'the moment' it just involved a different performing group.

Sorry about your 'puter! I have a backup laptop (just in case) that Greg mostly uses. I hope you can get your computer fixed.

I too went to the concert and felt incredibly blessed to be there. I'll miss your posts-- have a wonderful Christmas!

Oh wow... that concert sounds delightful! I would have loved to have seen that. Congrats on that!!
I'm sorry about all the other little mishaps going on but I'm sure in time that will all come together!
It'll be sad not to see your posts but I'm sure we will survive somehow =)
We'll see you soon!

It sounds like that concert was amazing, how fun to have a night with the whole family to hang out, I sure wish I could have been with you and 2G to celebrate on Sunday. As for the whole computer thing, well I think things seriously must happen in 3's we are also having computer issues and both our vehicles have issues. But as you say, I would rather deal with these than some other issues. Good Luck with all of these things.

Christmas is just around the corner and we just can't wait!

That sounds like an absolutely deLIGHTful weekend!! I'd love to do all that with our kids sometime. My kids are old enough to enjoy some of these things, but I also want them to REMEMBER it, so we'll probably still wait a few years. But I don't know - is that a bad plan?

Sorry you're having techno problems. But I'm also glad it's nothing worse.

have a great holiday season and we'll see you when we do! (and yes, you'll be missed.)

Love that you photo journaled everything--it was just like being there!! We went and saw the temple lights while we were down there--I wanted to do the whole trax thing but couldn't figure it out.

I am sooooooooo sorry about the computer. I know you are a much better person than I am so it won't feel like you lost an apendage or cause you to stare blankly at bare walls etc like it might have made me. I'm just sayin...

I will miss you--don't be gone for to long---stalking with no satisfaction can only last so long before it turns into it's ugly step sister---obsessive following--hmmm that really doesn't sound any worse than stalking--will have to work on that one...

I just jealous that you got to go to that concert. My brother plays in the Orchestra at Temple Square, but he could only get 4 tickets, so I didn't get to go. I was so bummed I missed it!
